Alibaba's Qwen team has published Qwen-Image-2.1, a 7-billion-parameter model that both generates and edits images from one set of weights. It covers text-to-image generation, editing from up to ten reference images, and native RGBA transparency (an alpha channel, so output carries a transparent background) in a single checkpoint. A prefix KV cache — reusing the stored internal state of the input rather than recomputing it — speeds up repeated edits.
